This project aimed to extend ChromeRiver's industry-leading expense management software onto mobile devices (iPhones and iPads), providing users with seamless access to key features and functionalities on the go. Lolay was tasked with designing and developing a native mobile app that replicates the core functionalities of the desktop experience while optimizing it for the smaller screen and touch-based interaction.


This innovative project bridged the gap between the desktop and mobile worlds, ensuring a consistent and user-friendly experience regardless of device. Lolay and ChromeRiver worked together to craft the ideal solution.

  • Understanding user needs: In-depth research was conducted to understand user pain points and expectations for mobile expense management. This included interviews with key stakeholders, user surveys, and competitor analysis.
  • Intuitive UI/UX: Lolay meticulously designed an interface that mirrored the familiar desktop functionality but optimized for touch-based interaction. We prioritized clarity, accessibility, and efficient workflows to ensure a smooth transition for existing users and a comfortable learning curve for new users.
  • Building core functionalities: Key features like expense capturing, mileage tracking, receipt scanning, and report submissions were implemented with a focus on speed, efficiency, and data security.
  • Leveraging native technologies: Native iOS and iPadOS development tools were utilized to ensure a smooth and performant user experience, taking advantage of device-specific capabilities like camera integration and location services.
  • Maintaining brand consistency: The mobile app was designed to seamlessly integrate with the existing ChromeRiver brand identity, ensuring a familiar and cohesive user experience across platforms.
  • Offline Functionality: Recognizing the potential for limited connectivity during travel, Lolay built an offline access mode that allows users to capture expenses, record notes, and take photos of receipts even without an internet connection. Data automatically syncs to the cloud once online, ensuring seamless workflow continuity.
  • Security and Compliance: Security was paramount, and the mobile app adhered to the highest industry standards for data encryption and access control. Additionally, all features were built to comply with relevant expense management regulations, providing users with peace of mind.
